Think of your life as a rainbow arcing across the horizon of this world. The two endpoints of everyone's rainbow are birth and death. You appear, have a chance to blaze in the sky, then you disappear...to know my arc will fall makes me want to blaze while I am in the sky. Not for others, but for myself, for the trail I know I am leaving.

Echoes of Reflection
The Lost Poems of Laurie Jean Weissgarber
In 1985, at the age of 22, my mom Laurie Jean wrote a collection of poems. Her poetry was a reflection of her big heart, with common themes of nature, friendship, and love. Later this year I am publishing the majority of her poems posthumously on her 60th birthday.

Kevin Kelly’s Excellent Advice for Living
This is is my most recently finished book and what I would describe as a modern Meditations—a lifetime collection of advice. Kevin previously published a lot of this book as blog articles and I enjoyed those so much I purchased this shortly after it was published. I can’t remember the last time I bought a book so take that as high praise that you should read this.

Notion’s new button feature to build quick checklists
My life operating system / digital notes tool, Notion, recently added a new button feature that enables you to build small automations that can be triggered by clicking a customized button. The use cases are endless. What I’ve started using this for is recurring checklists of items to complete in a given context. One example would be a preparation checklist before a hike. In the case of a hike, having a checklist prevents forgetting packing items or forgetting to complete important tasks like putting on sunscreen.

How to Take Over the World
An excellent podcast. I particularly enjoyed the three episodes on Steve Jobs. I learned a lot of new information about him which surprised me. The above quote comes from a speech in the recently published book by the Steve Jobs Archive titled “Make Something Wonderful”.
Huel
Top performers simplify common decisions and reduce the effort they need to spend making daily decisions about food and clothes. I’ve tried to improve my nutrition while also keeping time spent meal planning and prepping to a minimum this year by switching my lunches to Huel powder drinks instead of deli sandwiches. I’ve also enjoyed their hot meals and used their protein bars on hikes.
